Derivation
MISSION
BIIC Lab strives to provide an open, fun, and exciting research environment for researchers/students to engage in a diverse yet forefront research topics pushing the boundaries of both scientific discoveries and domain applications geared toward human-centered technologies. With a vision of being an integral part of the global research community, the continuous mission of the lab is to foster well-rounded, creative, and independent research leaders in taking on multitudes of challenging real-world human-centered signal-modeling tasks bearing high societal significance.
BIIC Lab Mission
STRATEGY
BIIC Lab members focus on conducting tightly integrated interdisciplinary research across behavior science and engineering with the following core computational techniques:
Multimodal Signal Processing
Machine Learning
Large-scale Human-centered Data Collection
We conduct advanced research at the intersection between signal processing, and machine learning with grounded real-world applications across multiple industry sectors such as finance, gaming, electronics, health, media, etc. BIIC Lab focuses on fostering future leaders in the human-centered computing community, and by working closely with relevant stakeholders, our research works contribute both to enable next-generation human-centered technology and to enhance our understanding of humans.
OBJECTIVE
BIIC lab conducts fundamental and applied research in human-centered signal modeling and analysis - an interdisciplinary research field (pioneered by Prof. Shrikanth Narayanan of SAIL, USC) across behavior science and engineering. We take firm belief in the following core objectives :
Signal Analysis and Interpretation Laboratory (SAIL)
DATA-DRIVEN
Learning from high quality signal data.
HUMAN-CENTERED
Computing for, of, by, from humans.
ALGORITHMIC-DERIVED
Handling variabilities with principled computational framework.
DOMAIN-AWARE
Ensuring tangible impact across domains.
INTEGRITY
Keeping science real and rigorous.
GLOBALIZATION
Being connected to the global community.
